I had to create a database which had all my customers data recorded as well as product details.
I created a database using Access 2007. I was familiar with using Microsoft Access as I have previously been using Access 2002 to store my product details.
I was continuously updating and changing details using Access 2007 on my database and found that while I saved the database the file size kept on increasing which was taking up a lot of space on my hard disk. I was confused as to why this was occurring because even though some of the changes I made involved me deleting certain data I still found the database file size did not reduce and at times increased.

The solution that was written on Microsoft Access Help feature was I should “Compact and Repair” the file.
I followed these instructions after I had updated my database with the latest data. Once the database was compacted a message popped up saying it will be saved as a MDB file!
As I had not used this feature before I thought this was normal, so I continued and when I came to open the database, I discovered that the file was nowhere to be found on my computer.

This had a major effect on my business as this database held vital information. Although I had a back up copy, this not had been updated hence I had to spend time going through that copy to update it, this was waste of my time!

If this is a bug, then I do clearly recommend that Microsoft should create a patch or an update to solve this problem. This can affect other people who also Access 2007. It has made unsure about using unfamiliar tools on Access.Dray Mcoynoreply@blogger.com
